Nestled between Corcovado National Park and Bahia Drake is the small fishing town of Agujitas, known to most as Drake Bay. Legend has it that Sir Francis Drake visited the waters of Bahia Drake to hide plunder and refit his vessels with food and water. Although no buried treasure has been found to date, the area gained it’s name from his and is a beautiful natural treasure that rivals any in other the world.
Tranquilo Lodge sits atop a hill overlooking this famous bay yet just a few meters from it’s stunning
palm ladened shoreline. Visitors to Tranquilo Lodge will enjoy many activities such as snorkeling, scuba, deep sea fishing and nature hikes but, my favorite thing to do was to sit in the pool watching scarlet macaws fly below. If you are planning a trip to the Osa Peninsula consider as stop in Drake Bay and a night or two at Tranquilo Lodge.
